The Motion Picture Event of the Fall?

Not Indiana Jones or The Incredible Hulk, but the story of a real, live action-adventure hero who made an infamous aircraft-carrier landing a few years back. Yes, Oliver Stone's W is slated for release on October 17. I may just have to go that night. Anyone else looking forward to this cinematic event? Leave a comment below.

I don't know if the tone of this trailer is actually representative of the film itself, but it sure comes across as a kind of dark comedy. More like a Wes Anderson movie than what I'd expect from Oliver Stone.

We all have our problems with Bush (to put it mildly), but I don't really feel the need to revel in my hatred, which is basically what I see the left wing lining up for here. I just don't think that approach is really very helpful. Cathartic, maybe, but not constructive.

I agree that many of us want to revel in our hatred after eight years of feeling so marginalized, but my understanding about the movie is despite Oliver Stone's having directed it, the film itself is actually pretty kind to W. Rather than simply vilifying him, the movie attempts to understand how he got to be the man/president he is today. I'll see it either way, but as much as I can't stand Bush, I really hope for a fair portrayal of him on the silver screen.
